Operation Christmas Child

At last Thursday and Friday's meetings the MOM group was able to stuff 100 boxes for Operation Christmas Child. The effort was seamless thanks to the work of April and the Mission Committee. Thank you to all of those who were able to help with donations and preparation. These boxes will definitely brighten many children's Christmases.

Mission Committee Preps for Operation Christmas Child

The Mission Committee met Sunday, November 8th, and sorted and counted all the supplies for the Operation Christmas Child Mission. Don't miss this week's meeting! We are stuffing the boxes November 11th and 12th!

Race for the Cure

The MOM group (and friends) participated in the Race for the Cure on Sunday, November 1. We had a great turnout and the group was able to raise $2, 150 for the fight against breast cancer. In addition to working to help a great cause, we were able to have a great time!

Visit to Heatherwilde Assisted Living Facility

The MOM group visited the Heatherwilde Assisted Living Facility this month. The visit was a fun and rewarding experience for the moms, kids and residents. The children dressed up in Halloween costumes and did crafts, read books and went trick or treating with the residents. Fun was definitely had by all!

October Trip to Elgin

October is here along with all things fall. MOM made a trip to the Elgin Pumpkin Patch to welcome in the new season. We had fun going on a hayride, painting pumpkins, climbing on pumpkins, picnicking, petting animals, and enjoying the fall weather.

Missions Committee

The Missions Committee had their second meeting this week. They worked on several projects including the pink ribbons everyone received at this weeks meetings. If you have a heart for missions and would like to serve on this committee, please contact April Lieder.

Race for the Cure

Our team has been formed for the Austin Race for the Cure on November 1. The race will be starting at the Domain this year. We'll meet at the church beforehand to ride together. It is great event for such a worthy cause and so much fun.

Welcome Tea

The Ministry of Motherhood Welcome Tea was Thursday, September 10. The food was delicious and the fellowship was fantastic. It was a great kick-off for what is sure to be a great upcoming year in MOM. Meetings will resume Thursday, September 17 and Friday, September 18.

School Supply Mission

***Letter from the Missions Coordinator***

I have a final update on our Summer School Supply Mission. The response was amazing yet again. You continue to blow me away with your giving. Together we collected $225 worth of school supplies, including 54 folders, 34 spiral notebooks, 4 pencil boxes, 19 packs of pencils, 17 packs of notebook paper, 5 sets of index cards, 25 sets of glue sticks, 4 sets of highlighters, 6 pairs of scissors, 10 rulers, 25 sets of pens, 14 sets of colored pencils, 24 bottles of glue, 61 boxes of crayons, 11 boxes of markers, and 4 kids backpacks! Thanks to each of you who participated. We had so many school supplies that we took the advice of Elizabeth Clawson with the council's approval, and gave a portion of the school supplies we collected to the custodians at our church with school age children and grandchildren. They were very appreciative. The remaining school supplies were taken to A World For Children, based out of Round Rock, for them to distribute to the foster kids they place throughout Texas. They were also very thankful.

Mission Message

At our first Mission Committee meeting in July, we discussed making our annual "School Supply Mission" a Summer Mission since all of the supplies are on sale now, and the kids need them sooner rather than later. The organization we are donating the supplies to is called A World For Children. This organization places children in foster homes locally and state wide. Currently they are serving over 800 abused children in 442 foster homes across the State of Texas. Our donation of school supplies will go directly to the needs of these children, and there are still many things they need.

A World For Children needs dozens and dozens of the items I am listing here below:

Please know that whatever you can help with would be used and appreciated. Even spending just $2-$5 would be of high value. If you wish to participate in this Summer Mission, please purchase your supplies and drop them off in the big blue bin outside of the Family Life Center or give them to any council member by the end of August. I am excited to see what we can do for these children. Thank you all again for your big hearts and giving spirits. I hope you are all enjoying your Summer and finding fun ways to stay cool in the heat. :)

Cookies!!!

Yesterday we delivered over 60 dozen cookies for the Middle School Mission trip that leaves today. Thank you to everyone for their generous baking and prayers going out to the middle schoolers.

I wanted to let everyone know that the Fall 2009 Online Registration for MOM is now open and ready for you to register. To register for the fall semester as well as the Fall Tea, please go to the following link

The online registration does require the use of a credit card. If you are not going to be using a credit card to register please let me know and I can help you with another way to register. The online registration will close on October 8, 2009.

MOM Movie Playdate

Join the MOM group for a movie playdate.

Where: Lakeline Mall Cinema
When: Thursday, July 16 at 10.

Let's stay out of the hot sun and enjoy Lakeline Mall's FREE movie day on Thursday the 16th. They have two movies showing Space Chimps (G) & Hotel For Dogs (PG). Both movies start at 10:00am and afterwards if everyone wants we can have lunch in the food court.

*We don't all have to see the same movie.

Welcome Tea

The MOM Welcome Tea is scheduled for 9:30 Thursday, September 10 in the Sanctuary Foyer. This is a great opportunity to learn more about the MOM group. If you are a returning member, it is a great way to kick-off the semester. Childcare will be provided. Look for more information regarding childcare coming soon. Birthday Bags reminder

Hello ladies!
This is just a friendly reminder to bring all your fun birthday bag items to your MOMs meeting this week 3/26 & 3/27. We will take a few minutes to assemble all of your great party donations in each of the meetings.

If you missed the last meetings before Spring Break, we had a sign up sheet go around to bring in what you have or to purchase themed party supplies to make up “Birthday Bags” to donate to the Round Rock Serving Center (the bag is for mom to have all the party supplies she would need to have a party for eight). Some of the girls paired up and each will be bringing some of the items to complete one bag, please feel free to do this with someone you know.

“Welcome Bags” for HeartGift

Here is a picture of some of the Friday class assembling the “Welcome Bags” for HeartGift. We made 12 MOM bags and 12 CHILD bags between the Thursday gals and the Friday gals. All the items for the bags were purchased out of our MOMs missions funds and cost about $400.

Mentor Mom Panel

During our weekly meetings on March 5& 6 we're hosting a panel of Mentor Moms! Please mark your calendars as this is one meeting you won't want to miss! Seasoned mothers of FUMC-RR who've "been there, done that" are joining us to share their experience and wisdom. They will answer our questions and offer advice for all the stages of motherhood. Start thinking about those questions you'd like to pose now...

SWAP Day

This week's meetings (February 26 & 27) is SWAP Day. Please bring any items you want to rid yourself of and we'll trade them out! Please limit actual swap items to your top five items. But feel free to bring additional items to be directly donated to the Round Rock Serving Center.

Monthly Missions Challenge Reminder

CHALLENGE = MOMs members of the past, current, and the new members, please consider this as your MONTHLY MISSION CHALLENGE for the ’08-’09 school year to help our Ministry serve Our LORD in our Community by collecting food for the Round Rock Service Center.

Our challenge to each of you is to buy $2.00 or more of groceries each month and bring them to the church for Kristi to pick-up and take to the Round Rock Service Center. This will help feed the under-privileged, low income and disadvantaged people of Round Rock, Hutto, and Wells Ranch. If all of us just do this small task once a month, we believe it will go a long way and serve our community GREATLY! By pulling together as a group we will do GODS work in strength and may the Lord bless our gifts each month.

Some items that are needed by the center are…
Canned vegetables (corn, peas, carrots)
Canned soup
Canned beans (green, black, ranch, refried, pork’n beans, baked)
Canned tuna, meats, stews
Breakfast cereal
Pasta (spaghetti, macaroni, lasagna, hamburger helper meals)
Peanut Butter & Jelly
Toilet paper
Toiletry items such as shampoo, soap & toothpaste

We have placed a large blue plastic bin in the Family Life Center foyer at FUMC and it has “MOMs Missions” on the front of it. Please drop off your bag of items in our bin with your name (if you want) and how much you spent on your items (example = Kristi Rape / $2.00 or example = $2.00). Kristi will collect all the items that you donate and will deliver the items every third Friday (after the Friday session meets/when class is meeting) of each month.

We had a wonderful meeting last week. We thank Janel Pearce, personal trainer, for coming to share her time and expertise with us. As a mom of four, Janel certainly understands our perspective and gave some great advice to us on how to work fitness into our lifestyles. As an added bonus, Janel graciously invited us to attend a FREE Pilates class at Corespeed where she teaches. Corespeed is located in a little red building at the corner of Hwy. 79 and Red Bud. The class times are 8:15 a.m. and 5:30 p.m. Tuesday and Thursday. For beginners, Janel recommends attending the first class of the month, as that is when she emphasizes the fundamentals of Pilates the most.
